1.
Are all horses of Windermere Farms imported?
Yes,
they are. This does not mean that there are no good quality horses
bred and raised in the U.S. The reason why we strictly import is
that the selection of horses of rare breeds like the Friesian is
much larger in Europe. This fact simply increases the probability
to find exceptional horses, as usually offered by Windermere Farms.
2.
Are foals or young stock available at Windermere Farms?
Windermere
Farms is not a breeding facility. We strictly import our horses
from Europe. There is however always the possibility to find and
import a special "youngster" for our clients.
3.
Is importing very expensive?
We
find importing is a very comparable option compared to the purchase
price of a horse bred and raised in the U.S. Prices are a question
of offer and demand. A lot more horses are offered for sale in
Europe and prices are therefore lower. When adding the import
costs the total purchase price of the horse is mostly not more
expensive than another horse that was born and raised in the U.S.
Mostly the training levels of horses purchased in Europe are much
more advanced which provides an additional argument for the advantages
of importing.
4.
Which horses require CEM-Quarantine service upon their importation?
Mares
and stallions older than 2 years.
5.
Do the horses need to go into CEM-Quarantine in the State of entry?
No,
the horse owner makes the decision which CEM-Quarantine facility
is appropriate for his/her horse.
6.
How do the stallions of Windermere Farms get their impressive
"buff" looks?
It
is a combination of an individual feeding program geared towards
a very specific horse, combined with targeted training for muscle
build up.
